ecoutance.

A LOVE OF LISTENING. A NEED FOR CLARITY.

Why Ecoutance

Your next book matters more than the platform.

I created Ecoutance to spend less time finding where to listen to an audiobook, and more time listening to it.

Why I created Ecoutance

I love the space audiobooks give stories and ideas in everyday life: on a walk, while travelling or exercising, or simply when taking the time to listen to a voice.

But for regular listeners, choosing the next book can mean switching between several apps. A title is available on one platform and missing from another. French and English recordings may be listed in different places. Narrators, running times and editions vary. And a book being in a catalogue does not mean your subscription includes it.

Credits, monthly hours, individual purchases, included titles and library loans all work differently. Even with several subscriptions, you can end up searching everywhere, or buying a book without noticing another way to access it.

I could not find the tool I wanted for listeners in France: one place to bring these options together and understand them before choosing. So I created Ecoutance.

What you can do today

180 audiobooks and 817 offers and editions in the current selection.

Search and discover

Search by title or author, filter by language, duration or platform, and explore editorial selections and the Mood Picker.

Compare editions and access

Check audio language, narrator, duration and listening options. The platform guide explains subscriptions, credits, hours, purchases and loans.

Start with your existing access

Enter your subscriptions, library cards and, optionally, remaining hours or credits to find offers from the services you use.

Keep track of your listening

Save offers to Listen later, keep notes and find completed books in Listened.

The selection is growing and does not cover every catalogue. Lists and preferences stay in your browser. Listening happens with the provider; Ecoutance does not connect to subscription accounts or guarantee that a title is included.

A format that deserves an easier search

Audiobooks already have a meaningful place in readers’ lives. A few figures show the scale, in France and beyond.

≈ 10 million

France · 2025

People who listened to at least one digital audiobook during the year, within the survey’s 6–80 age range.

Sofia / SNE / SGDL, 2026 survey

These figures measure different things: French listening habits, surveyed US publisher revenue and a global market estimate. They should not be added together. Sources accessed on 4 October 2026.

What we are preparing

Development plans with no announced launch dates. The AI companion and synchronisation are not available yet.

A more complete catalogue

More verified books, platforms and editions, with clear audio languages and access conditions for France.

An AI companion

Talk about what you want to hear, compare editions and continue thinking about a book after listening. Personalisation using your library would require your permission.

A personal space

Find your lists and notes across devices with an account and synchronisation.

A European outlook

Build French coverage first, then expand languages and markets, including Spanish, Italian and German.

Become the reference search platform for audiobooks.

The ambition is clear: make Ecoutance the natural place to find where to listen to an audiobook in France, then across Europe. Help listeners choose, make works and their different editions easier to discover, and improve the audiobook experience. As catalogues and offers multiply, a place that brings them together becomes more useful.
